A legacy of worship, service, and community.
1988: A new church is born
On Sunday, November 6, 1988, thirty-eight faithful men and women gathered at the Allendale Senior Citizens Complex with a shared vision to establish a new church. Reverend Zollie D. Bagby, Sr. was called as founding pastor and preached the inaugural message, “There’s a New Doctor in Town,” from Luke 4:16–23.
1993: Groundbreaking
As the congregation grew, the church purchased property at Hilton Street and Lohrs Lane. On May 16, 1993, members gathered to break ground for a new sanctuary.
1994: A new home
On December 11, 1994, the Village family joyfully marched into its new home at 100 South Hilton Street.
2004: Expanding the ministry
A major building project added a steeple and elevator, improved sound and security systems, and created a multi-story building with offices, classrooms, and a conference room.
A new season
After Reverend Bagby’s faithful pastoral service, the church entered a new season under Pastor Elect Rev. Stephen C. Dickerson, building upon a strong foundation while moving forward in faith, service, and purpose.
Village Beliefs
What we believe
Our beliefs are rooted in the Bible and reflect the historic teachings of the Baptist faith.
There is one true and living God.
God exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is Creator of all things, perfect in love, wisdom, holiness, and power.
Jesus Christ is our Savior and hope.
Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made salvation available to everyone who places faith and trust in Him.
The Holy Spirit guides and strengthens us.
The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, providing wisdom, comfort, conviction, encouragement, and power for faithful living.
The Bible is God’s trustworthy Word.
Scripture is inspired by God and serves as the foundation for our faith and daily living.
Salvation is God’s gift of grace.
Salvation cannot be earned. It is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Baptism is a joyful step of faith.
Baptism by immersion publicly expresses inward transformation and commitment to follow Christ.
The Church is God’s family.
The Church is a community called to worship, grow, serve, and share the love of Christ.
The Lord’s Supper centers us on Christ.
Through the bread and cup, we remember Christ’s sacrifice, celebrate grace, and proclaim our hope.
Faith is lived every day.
God calls us to love, compassion, integrity, humility, generosity, and service.
Our hope extends beyond this life.
We believe Jesus Christ will return and all who trust in Him will experience eternal life in God’s presence.
